Queen Elizabeth II Bridge

The Queen Elizabeth II (Dartford) Bridge was openned on the 30th October 1991, and is 450 metres long and is Europe's largest cable supported bridge. The tallest liners can pass under the central span. It was built in 3 years costing £86 million raised by 8 private companies to be paid back by tolls over 14-20 years. This is the third crossing of the River Thames at this point - the other being the two Dartford Toll Tunnels for Northbound traffic, all Southbound Traffic flows over the bridge except in very high winds. The Dartford to Gravesend Railway skirts the trees below the pylon.
